Get Away Health Benefits and Energize your Life and Business

I will be going away for holidays in a couple of weeks, so I thought it appropriate to post this article.  It has been about 3 years now since my last holiday, holiday, you know what I mean.  I have been on a few weekend or day retreats to keep me going but a true get away, where you have to hop on a jet or drive for several hours to be able to say you are really away.  To be able to leave your real life even for a while and explore all new surrounding, appreciate the beauty of the world and open our mind to new ideas and cultures is an amazing gift.  Getting away allows us time to rejuvenate and helps to give us peace of mind, something that is difficult to accomplish at home.

India - Agra Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal was constructed over a period of twenty-two years, employing twenty thousand workers. It was completed in 1648 C.E. at a cost of 32 Million Rupees about $59,000 CDN

I’ve done it and you probably have too. Have you ever took a week or two off work or business but stayed at home if so you may understand what I’m talking about. It maybe ok for a day or two but it is bound to start.  First a few dishes, errands, gardening, maybe a few emails and before you know it you are back in work mode.  Especially, if you are like me and have an office in your home, it calls to you, teases you and if you give in, guess what holiday over.  After the holiday is over, do you feel renewed and relaxed?  Probably not…why…because when we remain in familiar surroundings we tend to work on other areas of the home and  other priorities.  We never take the time for ourselves and therefore we never get the full benefits that getting away gives you.

When we get away even if for just a weekend we also get away from responsibilities.   We give ourselves a freedom we can’t or won’t take when we are in our normal surroundings.  We open our minds and free our energy that has been suppressed by our structured environment.  We give ourselves permission to enjoy and let our spirits flow freely.   At least for me the more rural the better.  I will be going to India in a couple of weeks now and have been there before.  I will be staying just outside of Delhi, love it there just a different vibe.  I remember saying to my husband it is the first time I have been in a big, busy city and yet feel peaceful.  I am not sure how to explain but I think it have something to do with the history of the country and the ancient buildings and temples.  I like to connect with nature and the elements when I am getting away just helps me clear my mind.  You may have experienced similar yourself.  When I get back my energy is hightened, spirit lifted and creativity active.  Allowing me to think more clearly, sharpens my focus and make better decision for me and my business.  It contagious your energy is so high and attitude is so bright it will effect others around you charging them with your new found energy.  It is like an energy boost and it feels great, but I won’t lie it doesn’t last forever.  That is why it is so important to have get away more often.  The longer away the better but lets get realistic, not always possible, responsibility, business and family can make it hard to get up and go away regularily but even if you can get a few days, a long weekend, or even a overniter it all help and provide great health benefit to relieve stress, worries and give a boost to your coping and decision making skills.

Imagine what life could be like if only we allow ourselves that freedom from the mind and be able to energy our spirit everyday, well you can it certainly isn’t easy and takes dedication but if you can master it you can take a mini holiday everyday.  Come back soon to get some more tips on how to get away everyday and energy your body, mind, spirit and ultimately your business.
